Barista Bash was a huge success! Congratulations to Tim Morris of Caffe Bellezza, the top prize winner. Not only did Tim go home with a Carrboro Coffee tote hand-made by CCR’s own Reiko Tanaka filled with goodies, but also many incredible prizes contributed by our various sponsors.

A number of local cafes and businesses were represented in the competition, including Caffe Bellezza, Caffe Driade, Cocoa Cinnamon, Joe Van Goh, La Farm Bakery and Open Eye Cafe. All competitor entry fees were donated to local charities Club Nova and Farmer Foodshare.

The judge panel included such local luminaries as Casey Steinbacher, President of the Durham Chamber of Commerce, Chef Teddy Diggs, Executive Chef at Il Palio Restaurant, and Reed Benjamin, Web Content Manager at Indy Week.

Check out Benjamin’s coverage of the event on Indy Week here.

Competitors poured their skills into various vessels, some of which were given away as door prizes to the crowd. With each round, the cup size decreased, but that didn’t faze the baristas!

Big thanks to the sponsors of Barista Bash including Malhkonig, La Marzocco, Steel String Brewery, Respite Cafe, and Offero.

We also loved having the Ko Kyu food truck and The Parlour bus at the event, feeding everyone with dishes made with Carrboro Coffee.

Great weather, great food, great crowd, but most importantly, great coffee folks.
